Maybe I've read the Weber essay tendentiously--as I mention-- partly for self-protection, I'm sure.
The essay should be online somewhere, I think. Tell me your interpretation.
My only epiphany--or projection---regards what I thought I read: If one EXERCISES "charisma"---leadership?--one exercises power, in some way. Which means, perhaps in your terms, one does 'manipulate' others---which is the beginning of the meaning of "power corrupts, etc."
