The Preterite are not perpetual losers

a program on the famous Jewish cemetery in Prague on public tv last
night--a beautiful place to visit--i've been there a few times.
anyway, despite the long and sad history of oppression of Jews in
Prague from Catherine to Hitler, there was a scene of a Jewish wedding
,of a woman who went to the cemetery for a blessing from the famous
Rabbi Loew (of Golem fame)--I thought as the couple were drinking the
cermonial wine that despite all that evil, despite all that brutality,
such acts of beauty endure, that the preterites of history do go on, a
simple husband and wife beating the odds
