Which is truer?

Paul asks a great question:
"If you could watch the Peoples Republic of Rock'n'Roll vs. the State as produced by 24fps, would it be "truer," "less true," or "equally true" as compared with the same confrontation as written by Thomas Pynchon,?"
And I will use this framing to repeat my seemingly minority opinion (I'm OK with that) : 24fps, in Pynchon's vision, is not much of a solution but just another part of the problem. Pictures are (for him) his whole oeuvre.
Problem in Vineland: Let's call it watching rather than ardent living.
One reason: a writer can satirize even documentarians inside a comically savage satire of America in 1984. TRP does.
