the dissociative fugue state sounds like a a good description of the Fugue
(Fuck you )State as permanent amnesia and reassembly of personality that
was one of the creepiest aspects American culture from  Reagan on, where
the importance of facts and accurate history was washed away in a haze of
nonsense and forgertfulness. What Gore Vidal called the United States of
Amnesia. The historic memory grows ever shorter as people are saturated by
more and more  contextless information.

Rove was a master of reliance on,and manipulation of, this diminished
attention span.
