Sixties futility

I find myself nagging my 16-year-old son to get a haircut so I can see his beautiful eyes.  I've pointed out to him that long, messy hair, without the counterculture element, is simply long, messy hair.  Lots of those hippie guys back then kept their hair brushed and out of their eyes via headbands.  At least we listen to the same music.
