I do believe the two authors are speaking about the same things,  
albeit from different angles. I'll continue to look into Edward Jay  
Epstein's "Agency of Fear." It looks like the author has a lot of info  
concerning the emergent drug war under the auspices of G. Gordon  
Liddy. Further peeks into later chapters point to more Hollywood  
involvement in the drug war.
