So, I lurked about the archives but could discover little in the way
of commentary, excepting a few on shadows and religious/political
shifting allegiances in the useful Paul Nightingale summaries, on
another reincarnation of the 31st President of the United States.
After the S&M scene in the stables (162), and African Antics,
Fleetwoods spins a tangled tale of East Africa and Zion. This is, a
wonderful example of the Jazz-like composition that Pynchon's prose is
sometimes compared with. Didn't know that Mingus was Chinese. Did you?
Hoover was a Quaker, an orphan, read Charles Dickens, Hard Times.
Mining Engineer. Austrailia, Italian anrachists in, then again in
Argenitina, where they try to assassinate him, but first to Africa and
Chinese coolie labor. Gold and Food Glorious Food.
Did I mention Holgrave?
