So, Dave Monroe has a copy of Inherent Vice waiting for him in a secret place in a haunt he hasn't haunted as much.......remind anyone else of a W.A.S.T.E postal drop?
Kramer's Books breaks the onsale date...and the DC listers dance in like unmute non-violent anarchists...another W.A.S.T.E. station?
Same happens in English and other European bookstores as word, the Word, spreads....
and some had secret mailings of ARCs for reviewing purposes; some got early finished copies delivered by the alternative channels of communication which I'm sure some haven't even communicated yet on the plist, only their shadows know.............
A---and then there are the shadowy lurkers, lotsa good-hearted shades, I gather.
And the official communication systems' copies are now about 18 hours away.
When a genius hits on an all-embracing metaphor that resonates-- an "objective correlative' as Eliot called them--then 'everything connects' even non-paranoically.
maybe this is what Oedipa was awaiting: the connection of everything.
