p-list meet-ups

I spent a fine evening in a tavern in NYC's theater district, meeting  
Rich Romeo, David Fischer, Chris the K, and a number of other fine  
folks, some have been named here recently.  Rich and I got together  
again for coffee in NYC a while back. Dave Monroe mentioned the  
Whitney rendezvous.  He talks more than I do, and that's saying  
something.

About David Fischer, who recently passed away. After I first got to  
know him on Pynchon-L and he learned a little about our family, he put  
me together with an friend who was editing a book. My son, who has  
grown up speaking English, Chinese, and French, contributed an essay,  
and I wrote one about learning Chinese, for the book, which is called  
Language Crossings.  Grateful to him for helping to make that happen.

Tim Ware and I get together here in the East Bay now and again. We had  
a great Pynchon get-together some years ago now, when Andrew was here  
from Scotland.  And I had a fun morning meeting Robin over in Berkeley  
one day back in that era, too.
