IVIV cultural context: McLuhan: Hot & Cool

I have a copy of this paperback, published in 1967, including  
observations by Susan Sontag, Tom Wolfe, George Steiner, plus  
responses by and an interview with McLuhan.  Good to see the reception  
of his work by contemporaries.

Alice's observations re McLuhan are worth considering. He seems to  
have been conflicted about the changes he was observing, and that  
ambivalence may be part of what Pynchon took away from his work.
