Postscriptum:
I learn from copyright examination that the dialogue in the book that this comes from first appeared in LA Weekly in July 1990.
If I remember right, that is the year Jackson Pynchon was born, correct?
Anyone know the date, earlier or later than this dialogue?
Gotta add: Ventura quotes "as above, so below" in this book.
Hillman speaks of Jacobean revenge plays and quotes Rilke on angels and demons within us....
Hillman also refutes Descartes "I am because I think" by saying--after suggesting that the self is the interiorization of community, how others should always be with us---that the truth is
Convivo ergo sum; "I am because I party."
Thomas Pynchon and James Hillman KNOW each other, are some kind of friends, I say and see now and will say again.
