Will Mr. Obama find "Inherent Vice" among his birthday gifts?

In American publishing, most onsale dates for new books are set, for coordinating shipping reasons, on a Tuesday, occasionally a Thursday. (Vollman is this Thursday, same publisher as IV)

If, as I understand, Charles Manson (and that murderous event?) is oft-alluded to in IV, then if Mr. Pynchon wanted the book to come out around the anniversary of that event--which is a Sunday, the 9th, this year-- Tuesday of this week or next would be the choices.

I know that the onsale date in America for "Mason & Dixon" was moved about two weeks later in the book's publishing cycle--evidently in order to fall on the birthday of Richard Farina.
