Which 300 pages? If you are going to toss out the idea of reducing the book by 30%, you'd best have an idea of what you want to excise.

The post is not meant to be a nasty-gram; I am interested in how one might approach hacking out so much of the book.

  I so agree with this.  Pynchon needs a strong editor (BTW so could your posts, Nushra), and AGTD (I also like this phonetic "acronym") is the prime example of this need.
