All of the above + Raymond Chandler. Whoever it was  was a 'designated  
editor.' What can I say? This is all pre Kerouac, pre-William S.  
Burroughs, pre-Brautigan. Pynchon, however, made some comment about  
extraordinary levels of intoxication & unedited passages in GR, as I  
recall . . .
