Editing Pynchon?

Well, so we agree that there *may* be some structure(s) that we're not currently aware of. There may not be, but equally, there may well be. Therefore it's be madness to cut, because you wouldn't know what you were cutting.
That is of course only one aspect. To me, even if there is no structure yet to be revealed at all, I wouldn't want anything cut. I think the idea is absurd. Pynchon gave us 1,085 pages, and it's up to us to decide which ones we cherish, which ones make us laugh, which ones bore us, etc.
It's odd how many people here really didn't like ATD. It'll be very interesting to see how IV goes down. I look forward to reading everyone's reactions.
