I'm here for you, John! Not sure about stoned all the way through, but for my money IV recalls a decent book and even better movie every bit as much as much as it does Chandler, Macdonald or Cain: Roger Simon's The Big Fix. Know it? The monologue at the end from a young F. Murray Abraham stacks up favorably in memory against anything in The Big Lebowski...
