Unless they reviewed it in Stars & Stripes, I wouldn't have known  
about The Big Fix when it was published in 1973, that being the year I  
spent in the Republic of Korea on a US Army base where the hipster  
librarian managed to get a copy of Gravity's Rainbow that same year,  
my intro to TRP.  In '78 when  I was in France so I missed the movie,  
too, first time around.
