Acid tests had been going on in the Bay Area and in Los Angeles before
Pynchon published the Crying of Lot 49. I'd say that the anarchist
miracle was something "seen", not "foreseen."
In my admittedly cynical hindsight, Woodstock appears more like a
great marketing opportunity successfully exploited than a grassroots
movement that riled "The Man."
