Woodstock in Inherent Vice

Haven't read IV... BUT your mention of the 'Beach'  reminds me of the
bit in Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas (the moovie not the book at least.
Er, haven't read that either), the quite moving and eloquent bit where
the camera spirals upwards as Duke recounts his 24 Hour Imipolexing
Plastic Inevitable/All Nite Flite-type experience where he encounters
Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers in the bathroom with LSD pon
sleeve, and then (and here's the moving bit) eulogises the 60s:
something about having a vantage point from where, if you look hard
enough, with the right kinda eyes, you can just about see where the
wave broke upon the shore and retreated.
Y'know the bit?
