Wrong. It is a Job. He wants to grow this little job into a bigger
one, even into a business. He tells us it's his Job. So does the
narrator, So do several characters in the text. Zoyd says that it is a
Job and that he must do it to produce Revenue (17). He fears losing
the Job because if the viewers and the groupies, like his daughter's
boyfriend, figure out that he is jumping through sugar, he may lose
the money he hopes to bring in from this gig. He could have been
working at Joey Chitwoods ...making some real money.

It's in the text.
