IVIV some very spoiler-ish reader response/cultural context for Doc: Philip Marlowe

I grew up in one of the US' cultural colonies, so most TV shows P
mentions were a staple of my childhood. Gilligan's Island, the Flying
Nun, Mighty Mouse, Beverly Hillbillies... usually a decade or two late
and half a world away from the point of production, it gave me a very
skewed vision of the States as an imaginary place stitched together
from illusions.

So miffed I missed Dark Shadows though. From what I've seen (and
heard) it's right up my alley - lame production values, one take
scenes, ham-fisted performances etc. Not looking forward to a Burton
remake for that very reason.
