The small scale pot growers I know will continue to grow organically
and produce a pure, medicinal product.
I'm no expert but my sense is that small farmers more generally, in
California and elsewhere, tend to embrace sustainable, green
practices, and produce healthy stuff.
I'd expect that corporate interests who seek to profit from marijuana
will do what they do now with other agricultural products, a mixed
bag, in other words or appalling and appealing practices. They are
susceptible to consumer and governmental forces, too.
