Note that the Wolfmann is cited as technically Jewish but Aunt Reet  
sez he really wants to be a Nazi & is surround by an Aryan Brotherhood  
motorcycle guard. While the connection to “Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand”  
&“Sie Liebt Dich” is by a slender thread, the citations of Nazis are  
thick throughout Inherent Vice, pointing back to the various threads  
in Gravity's Rainbow. Strikes me as issues around the Nazis— military  
industrial projects full of "Operation Paperclip" recruits, Manson's  
swastikas, Wolfmann's motorcycle guard—and other themes around land  
use/abuse in and around L.A. figure heavily in Inherent vice and  
reflect Pynchon's thoughts while writing The Crying of Lot 49 and  
Gravity's Rainbow.

"the title notes" also points to titles of ownership of lots of land.
