So we're dropping the idea that Van Meter is a snitch? And the even
more spurious idea that Van Meter is selling Zoyd out and is
orchestrating the whole window jump setup, including organising the
media circus? Good. That's that sorted, then.

It's worth noting that, when such self-appointed masters of 'close
reading' are faced with textual evidence which roundly refutes their
heavily slanted 'readings', they suddenly clam up on the matter,
sliding off sideways instead.

Problem is, the concept of 'close reading' really works best if you
just closely read the text, and see what it has to say, rather than
trying to see in the text what you want it to say.
