About halfway down that patent link there are "US patent references" dating back to '66:

* 3549946 INCANDESCENT LAMP WITH OSCILLATING FILAMENT December 1970 Kyp 
* 3790998 METHOD OF MAKING A LAMP WITH OSCILLATING FILAMENT November 1971 Kaufman et al.
 
But who knows when these actually went to market or were placed in purple bulbs...
