Yeah, hosting is for the enjoyment of the host. I first tried hosting  
during the first discussion of Mason & Dixon, and researching the  
text fucking blew me away. It ended up not mattering a bit whether or  
not people responded. I created a playlist for each chapter which is  
where the concept of Playlist and Playlist Addition originated, so  
that's been gratifying. Other than GR, I haven't found reading  
Pynchon enjoyable outside of participating off and on in these  
discussions. He's fun for me when I put some work into it, and boring  
as hell on the surface streets.
