I don't remember which review made a parallel with Mozart, his late
opera, Cosi fan tutte being a sitcom about contemporary Viennese
mores. And that was my idea too. None ot the high drama of Don
Giovanni or the spiritual dignity of Zauberflöte (still to come) but
still Mozart as a virtuoso of the craft. No single creative person is
able to save the world in all of their artefacts but some have more of
the ability to make people happy and think at the same time than
others. IV is not perfect (there may be very few perfect novels, and
even they are sterile and boring imo, as the form itself was invented
against perfection), but it is more satisfying craft-wise than more
than one of his heavier pieces.
