p.289-290 Tariq says this, confessing to holding out info on Doc....

Doc, again, is 'pissed off' but controls it---self- managed anger--
and even tries to see it from Tariq's pov------------

White guy stranger to an ex-con in danger black guy.........no wonder

he even remembers that Tariq had to take some kind of blood brother oath
which, keeping, Tariq now says is a mug's game since it did not save
Glen. 

Then Tariq tells Doc he has to take a bllod oath---you a honky!---but 
Doc gets his emergency weed stash and lights up---and never takes that
oath......

again, a PI's honor in evidence, yes?
