Robin, good stuff as usual re Chandler, keep it coming! I've read his novels, and recently re-read a couple, but I haven't time for close reading together with IV, so I appreciate the work you've put into comparing Pynchon's and Chandler's works -- exactly the kind of thing that I've been coming to Pynchon-L for quite a while now.
