315

bindlestiffs--hobos and the like

316

the woman at the front counter--a number of people Doc seems to care
about or worried about noted in this chapter

Prussia's office wall has a framed picture of a bride and groom?

half-eaten glazed donut and ..coffee--connects him with his work for the police

description of Prussia-- I think of a young Rutger Hauer like in Blade Runner

Rolex Cellini--interesting that Prussia's watch isn't working for a
man whose work ethic depends on it and his admiration

317

false inhaling--ala Bill Clinton

PCP--i've read angel dust highs last approx 6 hours or so. one assumes
Doc wakes up later towards evening after the dose

318

Mike Curb's Big Bounce soundtrack--this is some really bad shit:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mPpueWQsxo

319

what does Puck give Doc to wake him from that PCP dream high?

320

you're the only one I know that ever gave a shit about Glen--second
reference to Doc's caring

Prussia's theory on time--the buying and the taking away

321

Sacramento sex ring--mention of its threat to Reagan's
governorship--some sort of veiled reference to Schwarznegger, his
womanizing, dope smoking before he became governor. Arnold also plays
one of the muscle guys in the movie version of the Long Goodbye.

I shouldn't do any jail time--like Frenesi, Doc, and Coy, Prussia
wants to live outside the system, no repercussions for their actions,
free, immortal. it'll never last and the price to be paid is heavy.

federal money--the inherent corruption of law enforcement--gaming the system

322-323

pretty gruesome torture for a noted pornographer and as is noted on
the IV wiki his final resting place very much the like the stories
about the whereabouts of Jimmy Hoffa's body.

324

Vincent Indelicato--veiled reference to Frank Serpico?

326-327

the IV wiki wonders why Doc would light a smoke after subduing Puck,
giving himself away but I believe Prussia would smell Puck's
cigarettes and think it was him, a smoke-screen.

acid tab into the mouth of Time--considering Prussia's view on time,
an ironic statement when Prussia is wounded.

328

I'll call this in--again, Doc giving a shit

330
Bright Elusive Butterfly of Love--not an real easy song to remember
the words to after what Doc has been through?

331
palabra--i'm guessing this means you're giving me your word. Bigfoot
says well half my word

332
empty corners of the Glass House? not sure what Doc means here

335

some kind of Falcon--since Tito mentions pimping, the closest thing I
could find was that Falcon is a San Francisco-based producer of gay
pornography. There's also reference to The Gay Falcon, a movie made in
1941 starring George Sanders who is mentioned elsewhere in IV. maybe
falcon was slang for a male prostitute at one time?

336

Land of the Pygmies--I find reference to a movie circa 1921 with that title.

338

peligro--danger

339

the whole watching the packaged heroin like TV is one of Pynchon's
dumbest skits and if its one of those sly grins about addictions, well
that's really even lamer.

342
Note how the Golden Fang has a code of trust like the LAPD
