I agree, with a corollary. The worst part of being a pessimist is that you 
have already experienced the worst by anticipating it. While all surprises 
may be good, the pessimist doesn't miss out on feeling bad, because he or 
she has done it before the surprise occurs. Good trick, feeling bad about 
something that hasn't happened.
