I think Pynchon like many on the left pretty much sympathize with the
plight of black folk in the US. However, it is not a very nuanced one
which is not necessarily a critique, mind you. like many on the
American left I would argue.
There was too much of the white counterculture speaking for the
downtrodden black folk. its just as condescending in my opinion
The downtrodden need their own voice and I think Pynchon among many
today thankfully respects that
