these laments resonate with me.
what do you call feelings of lament for things one has never
experienced? I confess to being too young to experience what we would
call the positive aspects of the 60s
for those of us maturing in a cultural ditch like the 80s, it was alot
more internal, alone, and kinda sad.
we had reagan, aids, corporate corruption, mtv fashion, and fake family values
nihilism was cheap
the communal American high was militaristic
so, maybe those of us too young seem a bit more wistful than those who
were there
you can't blame us for that longing
I hope there are kids today who are just discovering that longing and
its not so solitary as it was for me in those 80s
or maybe I just went to the wrong school and had to work thru college ;)
