Thanks for that 'meta', Doug.
By the way, I never said I didn't like Robin's posts per se. He posts a lot. I like some, not others.
Let me tell you what I think really happened: you & me had a wee difference of opinion, earlier this year, sparked by your (inaccurate, unfounded) 'reading' of Chandler's Marlowe as 'a brute'. Although I tried to keep things cool between us, you went off the deep end, and eventually I lost my temper too. Next thing I knew, you cut me from your facebook friends list. Oh, the shame of it! Then, because we were co-recipients of emails from a well-known, seldom-heard p-lister, we exchanged olive branches and became bestest buddies again. Time passed, as it's wont to do. I got a bit tired of Robin's Chandler posts, and told him so. You hadn't been seen 'round these 'ere parts for a while; suddenly you popped up, specifically to take a side-swipe at me, lauding Robin's Chandler posts. Couldn't have been any more obvious what your intention was unless you'd added, "and by the way, John, go fuck yourself". Now, that's all cool with me. But what I think really happened is, you remembered our mini-feud over Chandler, and the fact that you'd fallen out with me over it, but you *forgot* we'd made up again! What other explanation is there? Either that, or some form of mental instability is at work here. Not that I care, but there you go, that's my guess about what happened. What's most hilarious about the whole affair is the way your hell-bent determination to oppose me (and all my dastardly works) has led you to slobber up to people - such as T, and your new pal 'rj' - who spent years habitually abusing you.
Weird? Hey, Pynchon himself couldn't conjure up that scene.

Yeah, I like Robin's posts, absolutely. Partly because he's reading
and talking about things that interest me, and always because I
consider Robin a friend, since I had a chance to meet him in person
and talk Pynchon quite a few years ago, in Berkeley. I lost touch and
was happy to see him come back on the P-list.
Rob Jackson is a Pynchon reader worth listening to, in my opinion,
even if I don't always agree. Same with Terrance. They are familiar
with the Pynchon critical literature, and they have original insights
into Pynchon's texts as well. I look forward to reading their posts.
