Wow, thanks, Dave. This is terrific stuff! If we proceed from the
suggestion that the phonograph is a crucial turning point, the
beginning of the mixing of high and low culture ("The First
Million-Seller"), doesn't that sort of imply a much murkier beginning
of potsmodernism? Maybe that hearkens to some of P's implications in
AtD....
