Misc. VL...more of the pervasive 'blue"

Ever since that critic pointed out the "blue" filling VL,
I see it in many other novels.......
(Maybe gotta read Gass's On Being Blue?)
Anyway, on the first page of Rabbit Run, 1960, John-boy Updike
of course, we get:
"moist March air blue above the wires"
"the pallor of his [Rabbit's] blue irises"
"squinting through blue clouds of weed smoke"
