Follow a current arctic expedition. isn't some technology wonderful?
For those who are interested … the Caitlin Arctic Survey project is
less than 18 hours away from launching their expedition, where they
will launch a team onto the polar ice cap with special measuring
equipment to measure the ice cap and take other readings. The fun
part is you can follow this event almost live on the Internet at http://www.catlinarcticsurvey
..com/ where it notes that it is currently -31 degrees C (-28 F).
Balmy. The team members will literally drag special equipment on foot
across the frozen cap to obtain accurate readings. Major concern:
Polar Bears. In addition to some cool (yes, pun intended) images,
you’ll be able to monitor the team members’ vital signs as the info is
beamed back. So, if you’re feeling stressed out, you can log on and
see how someone else is doing under somewhat more challenging
conditions.
