I have so far avoided any music claiming kinship with my favorite authors. Like film adaptations, they cannot help but disappoint. 
there was some other band that recently named an album 'V' after having read the novel. 
As a musician, I find it hard to believe anyone could put themselves into the position of being compared to even another musician, let alone a novel, without being very high for a very long time. 
One has to take oneself seriously, after all.
