absolutely. But at least in Lot 49, Mucho post-LSD seems so far out
there and to me sorta less human. to each his own and for him
personally maybe it brought him out of that maliase he was in but on a
certain level to my ears he's still creepy and even more
self-absorbed.
OED does refuse to drop acid, yes?

And I think in general Mucho is kind've an asshole--Oedipa's
relationship w/ him as described by Pynchon isn't one of his stronger
creations--she seems pretty passive to his young girl lust
declarations (not that's some sort of crime, mind you). i.e. seems
one-sided to me. (sign of the times I suppose of typical american
marriage in the early 60s)
don't think much of him VL either. no wonder OED shacked up w/
Pierce--though what a guy to rebound off, eh?

just re-read OED's descent into the SF night chapter--one of the
highlights I think of Pynchon's writing-still endeared to it every
time I read it.
