the right had the anger and utilized quite effectively a strong and
diverse (evangelical christians, libertarians, the strong defense
neo-con crowd, and more) grass roots movement than the left ever did
at least for the last 30 odd years
with Obama there is some hope that a new era of progressive grass
roots movement will be strong enough to weather attacks from an
increasingly fractured but still existant conservative opposition
I think Vond is only defeated by his own; if once can feel any
sympathy for the guy (there's not much) its that he is ever an
outsider looking in, never to join the true power flows that inhabit
those hallowed halls of Washington. those old cheney-like guys pbly
can't help thinking how ridiculous he is (though a major menace to
Zoyd and company)
