Hi
Maybe these jays are a regular feature for Lew Archer. I read my
first, Black Money (1965), last night - and it won't be the last.
Chapter 27 opens
"A jay who lived in my neighbourhood woke me up in the morning. He
was perched on a high limb outside my second-story apartment window,
and he was yelling his head off for salted peanuts."
and back at the beginning there was a creeping fig, with birds:
""In the creeping fig that covered one wall of the court, a pair of
house finches were discussing family matters" (Page 2)
