I don't think it's jejune.  It's not void of content: I'm saying the
reader's attention is what the writer is trying to catch, and a sense
of the message and the skill of its delivery is what the reader is
angling for.  These purposes are linked and focussed on the text.

if that''s wrong, how is it wrong?  If anything, it's too narrow,
since discussion with others adds more team members, and references to
other works adds still more.
