VL-IV morally equivical, duplicitous types

Real men are hideous, but women make so much
more interesting villains, maybe because men are
stereotypically such saps? Or, male authors find
them irresistible?

Understanding Frenesi is certainly a challenge. I'm
not even sure she's a villain. Might take a cue from
Pugnax, and check out the Princess Casamassima as
an early influence.

It's hard not to think of all the real-life men who turned
on former friends/fellow-travelers and suffered little for
it: George Orwell, Elia Kazan among them.
