I saw Dargerologist Michael Bonesteel @ Chicago's Intuit Gallery a few
years back ...

... and he said, at the time, at least, that he was editing at least a
selection (NOT the "selected writings" of his book's somewhat
misleading title) of chapters/passages from the manuscript (which I
saw at least chunks of @ The Chicago Cultural Center way back when,

neither hint nor trace of at the moment, but ...
We've a couple/three pieces @ the Milwaukee Art Museum, but, as Intuit
couldn't afford the collection, and as neither the Art Institute nor
the MCA as apparently all too interested, the bulk of his output, at
the time under the auspices of his ex-landlady, ended up @ the
American Folk Art Musuem in NYC ...

The AFAM was moving next door to MoMA on my first visit to NYC, so I
got to see finished illustrations plus source materials (inc. those
for one of the pieces @ home) there, with sketches et al. @ the old
bldg (still open @ the time) near Lincoln center. The only museum
(out of 15) I actually PAID to go to that frantic week (why begrudge
them $3?) ...
