But she has a son (not completely clear if the son is hers or Flash's). In addition to sharing her great grand-aunt Lake's perfidious traits, she shares her great grand-dad Reef's propensity towards abandonment. Reef abandoned his son Jesse, and his brother Frank stepped in (Zoyd-like) to become Jesse's dad. Reef went on to start a new family with Yashmeen, trading the son for a daughter. It does seem possible that TRP might have originally conceived of the Traverse-Gates-Wheeler saga as a unified work, opting instead to split it between VL and ATD. Not sure that was the best decision if that's how it happened.
