John Sobrato, George Argyros, John Arrillaga - real estate
billionaires in California who were all well on their way in the 1960s.
And of special interest in addition to being tangentially related to
Vineland (although a bit too far east) : Red Emmerson - the largest
private forestland holder in North America - assets include 1.52
million acres in Northern California, timberland stretching more than
350 miles from Mount Shasta to Yosemite National Park.
If Frenesi's grandfather, Jess Traverse, came out west for
logging, then ... but Humboldt and Del Norte counties are still too
far west for Emmerson. to be involved - except in fiction, of course.
