Sad to say that public domain for books, music, software, photos,  
artwork, etc.  is now generally 70 years after the death of the  
creator thanks to Mickey Mouse and Sonny Bono.    Meanwhile,  the  
time limit on patents is 20 years from the earliest effective filing  
date.
