John Updike, requiescat in pace ....

I've been practising teetotalism for 28 days now. The longest
stint in this millennium. (Three sober weeks in 2001.) It's
likely that abstinence will end in ten days - the traditional
Huutajat Little Christmas Party on Feb 7.

Anyway, until four weeks ago I tended to feel an affinity with
many a Pynchon character.

To quote an apt Updike novel title: "a month of Sundays" later,
I'm starting to put myself in the shoes of an Updike character.
A character like Rabbit, Babbitt-like Rabbit.


Rest in peace, John Updike.
