C of L49, mind over matter? Another take; another level?

P. 86 again....

Earlier readings always had me seeing this scene---raising the temperature via concentration---as a TRP joke about
certain kinds of religious belief.....the too literal, say.........Propagation of Christian Knowledge--which I know once existed---as just
P's name for that great American institution, Christian Science and, by extension, many too-literal religions. 

Any other p-listers grow up with those portrait-pictures of Jesus Christ, with eyes closed, which if you stared at LONG ENOUGH
were supposed to open?     

Seeing all the promised religion that never happens in this book this read, yet the 'revelations all around' all the time, I cannot help
but see TRPs 'Religion' in Cof L49 as a kind of immanence (lower case)....is this Buddhist?  A charged paganism?
