Unless it's been fixed, the numbering system of the town of Skowegan, Maine is random. 2 next to 47 next to 11 -- that sort of thing.

I once lived for a which in San Jose, Costa Rica, where there are no numbers. I remember my address as being 300 meters west of the National Museum

One slightly odd thing is that although Palo Alto and Menlo Park seem inseparable they are in different counties--Santa Clara and San Mateo, respectively but that's no excuse for not maintaining a sensible numbering system. Where I live now in Northwest DC the same numbering that is used on Wisconsin Avenue continues for many miles out through Maryland (as far as Rockville where I think they start over).

That's all real familiar territory to me. Lived there in the early 50s and still have close family=2 0ties there.
